The majority of the Society’s archives are being gathered in the Library of the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RGBE). Many of the original mapping cards, some correspondence and other items, including photographs, have been inventoried. Items presently at the Natural History Museum in London have also been inventoried and will move to Edinburgh soon. Details of how these items can be accessed by BLS members and by researchers are in the process of being finalised.

Meanwhile, our Archivist, Prof. Mark Seaward, is always happy to answer questions about the history of the society and past and present lichenologists. He can be contacted at m.r.d.seaward@bradford.ac.uk

Until someone interested enough in the history of the society steps forward to take on the role of BLS Assistant Archivist to look after the collection at RBGE, queries regarding materials held there can be directed to the BLS Vice-president at vice-president@britishlichensociety.org.uk

The BLS would welcome photos of recent BLS events or of Local Group meetings. Please contact the Vice-president if you would like to offer photos to the BLS archives and/or offer photos for use on the BLS website.
